Advanced Technologies Inc. (ATI) provides a wide variety of tooling services. We provide high-quality marine tooling, composite mold tools, prototype tooling, and large-scale tooling. We expertly produce CNC machined patterns, plugs and molds, fiberglass molds, temporary molds, and Limited Production Molds (LPM). We use a variety of composite materials best suited for their particular applications and requirements to include carbon epoxy, fiberglass, out of autoclave (OOA) and poly-iso (polyurethane & carbon) foam.
Our composite tooling facility is located in Copeland Industrial Park in Hampton. Spanning 17,000 sq ft, our manufacturing space can facilitate nearly any large-scale milling project that would typically be required by the marine and aerospace industries.
Milling Capabilities
Our milling envelope is 90 feet long, 16 feet wide, and 10 feet high, but we are capable of producing parts that are much larger. This is typically done by machining multiple pieces and assembling them into a single pattern. These can exceed 200 feet in length. Large composite patterns are assembled in-house for inspection and then broken back down for shipping to the customer’s destination.
Our Machinery
Our patterns, plugs, and molds are produced with an IRB 6400 ABB Dual Robotic Machine Center. Its reliable and proven design ensures high production up-time and minimal maintenance. Advanced motion control and collision detection greatly reduce the risk of tool and work piece damage. The unique control system optimizes the acceleration and deceleration to actual loads, resulting in the shortest cycle times possible. The IRB 6400 features robust, all-steel construction with high material strength. The arms are mechanically balanced and equipped with double bearings. The Foundry Plus protection has IP67 tightness on the complete mechanical arm and can be washed with high-pressure steam. This makes the robot ideal for use in harsh environments. All of these factors come together to allow ATI to offer high quality, consistent, and reliable machining.
